Superintendent's Report - April 2024

Spring has finally sprung! There is no surer sign that the seasons have changed than the beginning of eight weeks of training for our annual Reconciliation Run Walk Wheel taking place in all SD8 schools in June. The run offers weekly teachings on this year’s theme of Health, Wellness, and Reconciliation, along with training tips and information for all the staff, students and families who participate.

Community Open House and Survey Report

This spring our school held a community open house and follow-up survey to hear from parents and the wider community.  We asked for input on what is working, what we might leverage or add, and what could entice new families to our area.  We are grateful to the many people who contributed insights on their own best educational experiences, what they hope for the future, and ideas on ways we can enhance our programming.  Out of the 63 contributions, several themes have emerged.

Superintendent's Report - February 2024

We are nearing the 100th day of school and in primary grades, this is an important day of learning! All of our students are about halfway through the year, many have begun second semester, and everyone is in full learning mode in their classrooms, outdoors and in their communities. They are connecting with one another, sharing knowledge and experiences, embracing the world around them and working with educators to develop the skills they need to become lifelong learners.

School Learning Plan coming to life!

Our school learning plan is really coming to life! Our middle school learners, under the leadership of our district's School Leader Development Program, teacher, Lara Draper, are designing games to build our K/1 children’s letter, sound, and sight word vocabulary, our grade 2/3 students' memorization of addition facts and our grade 4/5 learners' multiplication facts. It’s exciting to see how the grade 6/7/8 students are contributing to the work of building skills in literacy and numeracy and making it super fun for our elementary students.

A wonderful winter concert- thank you CBS staff and students!

In Crawford Bay School, a snowy December night,

A packed house gathered, spirits shining bright.

Standing room only, a festive delight,

For our Winter Concert, a magical sight.

The PAC selling treats, a feast for the taste,

 Gourmet pizza and pastries embraced.

Honey-glazed figs, a delectable grace,

To keep us fueled for the concert's embrace.

Superintendent's Report - Midwinter Edition

Midwinter is upon us - a time when SD8 students and educators look forward to sharing and showing what children have learned and the talents they have developed in the first half of the school year. It's a time when family and community are invited into our schools to watch - and in many cases participate in - holiday concerts and events.
