Principal's Update November 22nd, 2022

Inspired by the October Pro D day, Ms. Lanaway at CBESS organized some sessions with the Creston Museum.

The 7-8 class received a fantastic lesson on the history of the Creston Valley, including its original shape, before dyking and farming began. Historic simple machines were brought here and explored with the students for a full experience of the equipment used in the changes of the valley.

Indigenous Veterans Day - November 8

November 8th is a day marked to honour the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to the Canadian Military.

"Did you know that First Nations served in the Canadian Military at a higher rate than any other group in this great nation? More than 4,000 Indigenous people served Canada in the First World War. In fact, First Nations, Inuit and Métis people served Canada in all the great conflicts and peace support missions of the 20th century." Principal's Update October 25th, 2022

Over the last few weeks, at Crawford Bay School, we have been busy building skills and confidence, while continuing to strengthen school spirit and culture.

Elementary students were meeting with Liam Fitzpatrick from COIN every Wednesday to hear stories and learn from and through the land. His final visit marked a highlight for many students with archery being the focus of the learning.

Principal's Update September 27th

At CBESS we opened the 2022-2023 school year under the theme of building community.

Our first day assembly was inspired by the children’s book, “Be a Good Ancestor”

It is a beautiful book about building awareness of who came before us, who will come after us, and how this awareness effects the way we treat each other and our environment.

Principal's Update September 10th, 2022

Hello CBESS families,

I want to thank all of our students, families, and staff for their patience and flexibility as we navigated through our first week back!

We have welcomed a number of new students this last week. For the Elementary students, there will be adjustments to our original class configuration. We will continue with our current three learning groups for the beginning of this coming week--I will update you on the adjustments as soon as things are finalized.
