Grade 4 to 7 students recently participated in the annual Creston and Area Track-and-Field Day at the Creston and District Community Complex. The event brought together students from Adam Robertson Elementary School, Canyon-Lister Elementary School, Crawford Bay Elementary School, Erickson Elementary School, Salmo Elementary School, Yaqan Nukiy School, and provided a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, demonstrate sportsmanship, and enjoy a day of physical activity.

Students participated in a variety of events, including the one-foot high kick, standing broad jump, high jump, ball toss, frisbee throw, 100-metre run, and 800-metre run. Throughout the day, students challenged themselves, celebrated personal successes, and cheered on their peers.

The excitement built toward the annual relay races, the highlight of the day. Students from each intermediate grade had the opportunity to represent their school in a relay race against students from the other participating schools. With the entire crowd gathered around the track to watch and cheer, the relays created an electric atmosphere filled with school spirit, excitement, and encouragement. It was a memorable way to conclude a fantastic day of athletics, sportsmanship, and community.

As CLES Principal, I congratulate all Canyon-Lister Elementary School athletes for representing our school with determination, enthusiasm, and great sportsmanship.

Congratulations as well to participants from each of the Creston and Salmo families of schools and from the Yaqan Nukiy School for competing with grit and gusto, and thank you to staff and volunteers who made sure the day was a great success for athletes and spectators alike.
