Earth Day - Principal's Blog

By Erin Gibbs, Principal - Crawford Bay School

Earth Day is almost upon us, falling this year on Easter Monday. It is our hope that classroom conversations and our assembly on Thursday (thanks Ms Lanaway for leading!) will motivate us all to do better for our planet. On a daily basis we see our older students returning at lunch with plastic bags full of packaged food, as seen in the photo above. We talked about making recyclable bags and leaving a stack of them at Crawford Bay Market (let’s make this happen!). We all need to step up and find alternate ways that won’t further degrade our world. With all this in mind, I searched for that video about plastic in the ocean. Before Thursday’s Earth Day assembly, I urge you to watch A Plastic Ocean if you haven’t already. It’s only 21:36 minutes. Here is a shortened version too, of only 2:08 minutes.

On Tuesday (23rd), our first day back after the Easter break, classes have signed up to work in their garden plots. We are excited to have greens from the garden to dress up Tyler's salad on Wednesday! Check out the recent Farm to School update here.
